June 19th at the 50/50.  Doors open at 8:30.  There is limited space (80 people?), so be punctual.  All ages!

There will also be a picnic before the 50/50 show.  Probably at 6:00-8:00 in the field at Canada West University, which is across from Camas on Kings/Quadra.  A bunch of bands will play at the picnic, too.  Bring a dish to share if you’d like.

New Release: Amazing Grass by Almonds, CohenTo be released Wednesday, May 13 I’m really excited that this is finally coming out!  It’s, like, a real album!  It has beautiful arrangements, a few rockers, a few ballads, sing-a-longs, and some strings.  It sounds really good, too.  And the packaging looks great!!  If you’re not familiar with Almonds, Cohen, the band is the project of Brock Edwards, who is also a member of ‘It It, Colourbook, etc.  The album was recorded over one full year in different spots all over the world! Think about checking it out.  This deserves to be heard!  Samples can be heard here, and we’ll be posting more songs throughout the next few weeks. We’re also having a show to celebrate the release of the album: Wednesday, May 13: Almonds, Cohen plus The Macadamia Brothers Free!  Outdoors! Meet outside of  Recyclistas bicycle shop at 8:30 sharp.  After that, we’ll move to a secret location.  This will be fun!  And the CD will be on sale!  50% off.

The Phonemes - Easter Suit

GIG GUIDE FOR THIS WEEKEND
There are a lot of shows this weekend!

1. Thursday, April 9 at the 50/50: Laura Barrett, The Phonemes, Kellarrissa, My Friend Wallis.  Starts at 8:30 on the dot.

This show will be sort of quiet.  And all of these bands are quietly well known.  Toronto vs. Victoria/Vancouver.

2. Thursday, April 9 at Logan’s Pub: No Gold, Colourbook, A Magician?  Starts at around 10:30?

I would be excited for this show if I could attend.

3. Friday, April 10 at Camas: Cobras Cobras Cobras, Cartographers, Hierophant

Loudd, good.

4. Saturday, April 11 at Camas: Vincat, Sleepy Sun, Birds Fled From Me, SP3CK.

I don’t know much about these bands, but Vincat seem really excited about this show.
